How it works

Jhily is a directory of businesses and websites, with honest reviews from the people who used them — and a set of tools for the owners who run them. Reading is free, writing a review is free, and claiming your own listing is free.

For anyone looking something up

You do not need an account to read anything here. You need one only to write.

1. Search, or paste a web address. Type a name to search what is already listed. Paste a website address instead and, if that site is not here yet, a page for it is created straight away — its name, description and icon read from the site itself. If the site already exists you are taken to it, rather than a second copy being made.
2. Read what other people found. Every listing shows its rating, its reviews, and the owner's replies where they have written any. A listing marked Unclaimed has no owner here yet — the reviews on it are still real, but nobody from the business has answered them.
3. Write your own. Create a free account and say what happened. Your review is checked before it appears, and the business it is about cannot delete it. They can reply to it, and they can report it if it breaks the rules — a person then reads it.

For business owners

Your business may already be listed here, added by a visitor or by us. Taking it over costs nothing.

1. Find your listing. Search for your name, or paste your website address to have the listing created. Either way you end up on your own page.
2. Claim it. Press Is this your business? on the listing and tell us how you are connected to it. A person reads every claim, so this is not instant — but nothing is charged, and you can say which plan interests you without committing to it.
3. Once it is approved. The listing is yours to edit — description, contact details, opening hours, logo — and you can reply to every review on it. You start on the free business plan, which costs nothing and does not expire.

The tools you can add

Beyond the listing itself, a plan can include the tools below. Which of them you get, and how many of each, is set out on the pricing page.

• Review replies. Answer your customers in public, under their review. Included on every plan, including the free one.
• Job circulars. Post openings on your listing and in the site's jobs section.
• Tasks. A simple board for the work your team has to get through.
• POS terminal. Ring up a sale and print or send the invoice. Your shop charges in its own currency, whatever currency your plan is billed in.
• POS products. The inventory your terminal sells from.
• POS invoices. How many sales you can put through in a month.
• Accounting. Record income and expenses and see where the business stands.
• Offers & deals. Run a promotion on your listing for a stretch of time.

Two kinds of limit are used, and they behave differently. A limit shown as at a time counts what exists right now — finish a task or end an offer and the slot comes back on its own. A limit shown as per month resets on the 1st, also on its own. Nothing is ever deleted to make a number fit: moving to a smaller plan simply stops you adding more until you are back under it.

Being seen higher up

The numbered places at the top of the home page, and the featured block, are bought for a period of time. They are not part of any plan, and no subscription moves a business up the page. Every paid place is marked, so a reader can always tell what was bought from what was earned.

Ratings and reviews are never affected by what anyone pays.

Common questions

Can a business remove a review it does not like?

No, and no plan changes that. An owner can reply to a review, and can report it if it breaks the rules, which a person then reads. A directory where businesses delete their own reviews is worth nothing to the people reading it.

Do I have to pay to reply to reviews?

No. Replying is on the free business plan, so every owner can answer their customers from the day their claim is approved.

Why was my business already listed before I signed up?

Anyone can add a website to this directory by pasting its address, and we add sites too. The listing is built from what the site publishes about itself. It is yours as soon as you claim it, and you can correct anything on it.

What happens to my data if I move to a smaller plan?

Nothing is deleted. Limits count what exists right now, so a smaller plan stops you adding more until you are back under the number. Everything you already have stays where it is.

How do I pay?

Prices are set in one currency for every country, so the price list reads the same wherever you are. You can pay from your wallet balance, or send the amount through the payment methods shown at checkout — the local figure is worked out for you there.

Is this the same as my own shop's currency?

No, and the two never mix. What Jhily charges you is one thing; what your POS charges your own customers is set separately, in your shop's own currency, in your POS settings.
